Basic Pastry
Whole wheat flour makes this pastry more nutritious than the average. This pastry bakes up flaky and delicious. Mmmm...the perfect pie!
1 lb shortening
6 cups flour (4 c. white & 2 c. soft sifted whole wheat)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 to 3/4 cup cold water with splash cider vinegar
Cut shortening into flour until pea-sized balls form. Add cold water gradually, using lesser amount until all flour is incorperated and dough holds together.
Use what you need, and the rest may be frozen.
